GENERAL MEDICINE
General Medicine is a medical specialty that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and non-surgical treatment of a wide range of adult diseases. It deals with common and complex health conditions affecting various organ systems, including infections, diabetes, hypertension, heart and lung diseases, thyroid disorders, gastrointestinal problems, and lifestyle-related illnesses.
General physicians evaluate symptoms such as fever, fatigue, pain, breathlessness, and weakness to identify underlying medical issues. Diagnosis involves detailed clinical examination, blood tests, imaging studies, and other investigations. General Medicine also emphasizes preventive care through regular health checkups, vaccination guidance, and lifestyle counseling.
General medical conditions may cause fever, weakness, body aches, cough, breathlessness, headache, dizziness, weight changes, and chronic illness–related complaints.
Diagnosis includes detailed medical history, physical examination, blood and urine tests, imaging studies, ECG, and other investigations to identify and manage medical disorders.
